Two New AMD 64-Bit Chips Released Today
AMD claims to have regained the performance crown today with the release of their newest processors the AthlonT 64 FX-55 and the AthlonT 64 processor 4000+. The FX-55 is aimed at the PC
enthusiast and gaming markets while the 4000+ is targeting business and consumers. Retail prices for both are $827 and $729, respectively, when purchasing by the 1000. A quick glance over at Pricewatch shows single chips going for $866 and $787 respectively. The reviews are coming in and everyone seems to agree that AMD has taken the lead, although no one can seem to justify the prices they are charging. As far as pure price/performance ratio is concerned, all the performance leading chips from both manufactures are priced way too high to justify purchase.
